Details: 1997 MERCURY COUGAR last year made for this style with 113222 miles. Comfortable with plenty of power when in need and parts that are available for the car at every auto store. The V8 4.6 L is the same as the Ford Mustang and it is built on the same frame as the Ford Thunderbird. The car has been maintained very well and there have been improvements made to ensure the car will last and be a reliable vehicle. Some of the improvements - Ford designed the intake manifold to where the cross member would not last so they designed a different intake manifold where the cross member (front) was made of aluminum. The car has the manifold installed because my dad (previous owner) had it replaced because he did not want to risk damage to the engine. Other improvements - new front and rear brake pads, new rotors in front and calipers, new shocks in the rear, the air filter has been replaced with one that never has to be replaced, alot of the rubber hoses have been replaced, it has a rebuilt alternator, A/C and heat work just fine, new drive belt, new head cover gaskets ( not to be confused with the head gaskets ), the antifreeze has been replaced, brake fluid replaced. Ford is advising that the older transmissions that were calling for Mercon trasmission fluid to be replaced with the Mercon V, so that has been done also, the torque converter, transmission and transmission filter have been replaced with the new fluid ( much better, and smoother shifting ). The rear axle (8.8) fluid has been replaced with new fluid, new gasket, it has the rear limited slip diferential, so both wheels will get even traction. The car has leather seats, all power, it has a radio that is MP3 compatible, power antenna, air bags.I have to make sure I mention some of the problems also- the car has a sun roof but it does not open because one of the wheels that spin the motor is worn out. On the rear, in the front of the rear tires on both sides, Ford has two rubber water drains, those were not designed very well and the water did not drain all the way, resulting in two rust spots. This is due to the stupid design and is not a maintenance issue. The center console that holds the radio is damaged, so I bought the cover but it needs the frame. I managed to rig my own frame so the radio and all the heater commands are in place, however I took the cover off so you can see what you are buying. The only door that can be opened with a key from the outside is the driver´s side door, all the other locks are stuck. The trunk can be opened from the inside (power trunk opener) and also with the remote. The driver´s side seat has a couple small punctures in it. This is an extra vehicle for us so we have not driven it this winter. Details: this is a 1998 mercury sable. it is front wheel drive. v6 engine pretty good on gas. the front wheel drive helps in the winter its ok in the winter. I am selling this car to get a truck because i need a truck for hauling dirtbikes and pulling trailers. This is a very nice car i am the second owner. it was my first car. i really like the car very reliable. I just put on 4 brand new tires on it before the winter. it also has all brand new mufflers on the back. I also got new silverstar ultra lights. it is a very clean car minimal to no rust. the interior is very clean. It has powered stearing and powered windows and mirrors. Heat and air conditioning all works really good. the radio and tap player both work good. it is a garage kept car. it has a newer battery and newer wipers. it has 80,xxx on the engine. the car is pretty good on gas little scratches on the outside of the car.
